Land Acquisition Researcher BOP Pickleball Stadium Trust

Purpose of the Role We are seeking a proactive volunteer to help identify and assess potential land sites in Tauranga and the wider Western Bay of Plenty for the development of a dedicated pickleball stadium. This role will support a community-led initiative aimed at delivering a high-quality sports facility that meets the needs of a rapidly growing population and aligns with local planning frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify potential land parcels across Papamoa, Mount Maunganui, and surrounding growth areas • Review zoning and planning rules under the Tauranga City Council District Plan and relevant Western Bay policies • Investigate council-owned land, reserves, and future development areas • Assess sites based on: o Accessibility (including links to main routes such as State Highway 2) o Parking availability and transport connections o Proximity to population growth areas o Infrastructure availability (water, drainage, power) o Environmental and consenting constraints • Engage (where appropriate) with council staff, developers, real estate agents, and community groups • Maintain a structured database of potential sites and key details • Assist with basic mapping and visual overlays of shortlisted sites • Prepare summary reports to support discussions with council and stakeholders
