Project K Mentor

**Project K Mentor (Volunteer)**

Programme: Project K

Location: Bay of Plenty (school-based mentoring)

Time Commitment: 2 hours every 2 weeks for 12 months (plus training and occasional events).

**About the Role**

Become a mentor and help a Year 10 student realise their potential. **Project K** is a youth development programme designed to build confidence, resilience and leadership capability in young people.

The programme includes a wilderness adventure, a community challenge, and a one-to-one mentoring partnership.

As a volunteer mentor, you will be matched with a student and meet fortnightly to support them in setting and achieving personal goals.

You will provide encouragement, a listening ear, and positive role modelling to help strengthen the progress they’ve made during the earlier stages of the programme.

**Key Responsibilities**

• Meet fortnightly with your assigned student (approximately 2 hours)

• Support goal setting and personal development

• Encourage resilience and positive decision-making

• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

• Communicate with Project K staff as required

• Attend mentor training and relevant programme events

No previous mentoring experience is required. Full training and ongoing support are provided.
